Most of the learning we do in Language Arts are interactive lessons that are designed to help students learn phonemic awareness skills ans develop basic reading skills. It is so important that your child is in class each day. When students miss school, they are missing instruction that is so important in attaining these skills and cannot be sent home to make up. If your child does miss Language Arts, please spend extra time working with them on phonograms and be sure to have them read aloud to you.
If your child is absent for a phonogram review or has lost the Daily Phonogram Review paper, students can make up the assignment by practicing phonograms with a parent for 5 minutes for each day missed. Email me or send me a note to let me know which day(s) you have helped your child make up. The phonograms we are working on for the week can be found at the bottom of the spelling sheet. You can print flashcards to use as you work with your child or click on the audio link below to help you with the phonogram sounds. There are also apps available for many devices if you search Spalding Phonograms.
